Trip report · May 20, 2026
Alfie and Ernie, two young Shih Tzu boys, traveled with us from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to Woodstock, Vermont over four carefully paced days.
Starting the journey in Fort Lauderdale
From the beginning, Alfie and Ernie were calm, friendly travelers. Each travel day covered roughly 10 to 12 hours, with the scheduled breaks included, so the journey could move forward without rushing the boys.
Walks, water, and a familiar routine
About every three hours, Alfie and Ernie came out of the vehicle for a walk and rest break. These stops gave them time to stretch their legs, explore the grass, drink water, and settle before the next part of the drive.
Water was offered at the regular breaks, and the boys were fed twice each day. Keeping a consistent rhythm helped the trip feel more predictable and comfortable.
Weather and music on the road
Most of the journey brought pleasant weather, although the route passed through a couple of storms in Florida and Virginia.
The soundtrack changed as the miles passed: Serbian country music, popular Italian hits, and hip hop during the nighttime stretches. It became one of the lighter, memorable parts of traveling north with the two boys.
Overnight hotel rest
At the end of each travel day, Alfie and Ernie settled into a hotel room for dinner, sleep, and breakfast before continuing the next morning. The longer overnight stops gave them time away from the vehicle and a chance to relax after the day’s drive.
A happy arrival in Woodstock
After four days of travel, Alfie and Ernie arrived in the beautiful town of Woodstock and reached their family’s summer home. Their pet parents were very happy to see them, bringing the journey to a warm and memorable end.
What their owner shared
“We started working with Radenko and Milica of Pet Super Stars a couple of years ago, first as a pet taxi service to take our two doggies to their weekly ‘spa day’ at their favorite groomer and then having them stay over at their home when we had to be out of town and most recently we hired Radenko to drive them all the way from Ft Lauderdale to Woodstock, Vermont. Our dogs adore them and I believe the feeling is mutual. I’m so glad to have found them! I think you’ll feel the same way, too.” — Jeff Liroff
